This Tuesday’s trip is to the Dodder at Firhouse Weir. The Firhouse weir or the City weir was built in the thirteenth century to convey water from the Dodder in order to supplement the water of the Poddle River which supplied Dublin with drinking water. A lattice bridge was erected about 1860, and this was replaced by the present bridge opened by the SDCC in 1995.
We will meet at Molloys car park at 7.30pm sharp to carpool if necessary.
