Outing to Cloughlea, July 15th and Upcoming Visit to Straffan Butterfly Farm

Cloughlea, Co Wicklow, Tuesday July 15th

For Tuesday, July 15th’s club outing we’re heading to Cloughlea, Co Wicklow.  Behind a small church there, we’ll find a lovely little river that offers many opportunities for getting those milky water effects with slow shutter speeds.

We’ll meet at Molloy’s car park as usual and leave at 7.30pm sharp.  We’ll take the N81 heading towards Blessington.  After about 12 0r 13 kilometres take a left turn onto the R759 – signposted for Kilbride – there is an Antique and craft shop opposite this left turn so keep an eye out.  After another 2 km turn left, staying on the R759 (for Roundwood) and the church is about 3 km further down this road just after a sharp right bend over a small bridge.

Parking here is very limited so car pooling is strongly suggested.  Looking forward to seeing your there 🙂

Straffan Butterfly Farm, Sunday, July 27th

On Sunday, July 27th, we’re off to Straffan Butterfly Farm, Straffan, Co Kildare.

Experience the world of butterflies in the Tropical House as you walk through a mini jungle while an array of exotic and colourful butterflies fly freely around you.

Take a look at their Exhibition Area and see an amazing collection of framed butterflies and other insects.  Also in the Exhibition Area are a variety of live tarantulas, scorpions, reptiles and other critters.  Then cool off by the beautiful garden pond!

There is a covered picnic area, so perhaps bring along a packed lunch.

Visit the Straffan Butterfly Farm‘s website for more details.

Our meeting time is yet to be confirmed, but it will be an early start, meeting in Molloy’s car park.  Keep an eye out for updates 🙂
