August 12th Outing to Bohernabreena Reservoir

This Tuesday, August 12th we’re staying local with a trip to Bohernabreena Reservoirs and Waterworks.  These reservoirs were originally built in the 1880’s to supply water to Rathmines.

The River Dodder flows from Kippure through the valley and the area is very popular with walkers with a 6km walk around both lakes.

We’ll meet in Molloy’s car park to leave at 7.30pm sharp.  There are no car parks at the reservoirs so parking is very limited and car pooling highly recommended.  The best option for parking may be at the southern end of the reservoirs.

See you there!

We’re considering a day out to Carlingford in Co Louth for Sunday, August 31st.  Located half way between Dublin and Belfast, Carlingford is the site of medieval ruins King John’s Castle, built in the late 12th century.  The town also contains some medieval streets and one of the last remaining town gates in Ireland.  Keep an eye out for updates.
